Our private tuition classes include no more than five students per class. Students are guaranteed hands-on experience at all times.
We have guest lecturers from Trinity College Dublin Department of Music and other sectors of the music business. We hold regular lectures in The Tailor's Hall, High Street, Dublin.
Academy Of Sound students have achieved work placement with IMRO, Brown Bag Films (Oscar Nominees) and Electrical Studio in Chicago owned by Steve Albini.

Welcome to the Academy Of Sound. Established by Aidan McGovern in 2003, the Academy is currently located in Dublin’s Village Quarter just five minutes walk from St. Stephen’s Green.
Our courses in Sound Engineering & Music Technology range from Introductory to Higher Diploma Level 4. We focus on practical recording & production techniques. We study recording & mix engineering, midi programming, music production, studio sound, live sound, sound design for film, tv & radio broadcast, record company A&R and music publishing.
Aidan McGovern, Head of the Academy Of Sound, is an award winning engineer. He has worked in studios worldwide with artists such as the Cranberries, Lisa Stansfield, the Irish National Symphony Orchestra, Elmer Bernstein, Eric Clapton, Sinead O'Connor, U2, Elvis Costello and many more. Aidan has worked as an A&R Consultant for major labels BMG and Arista US and has a music licensing contract in Los Angeles. His music industry expertise added to the talents of tutors Jeff Timoney (Electronic Music Producer) & Tanja Thomas (Final Cut Studio Engineer & Animation Producer) offers students an opportunity to excel.
